Mar Pintor Shirt (Indigo & Coyuchi)

$500.00
sold out

This Pintor Shirt is made with a 100% hand-woven organic cotton fabric. The warp is naturally dyed using indigo and the weft is Oaxaca’s native brown cotton, Coyuchi.

We’re very excited to be working with @khadioaxaca, a collective of artisans and other collaborators who live in the municipality of San Sebastian Rio Hondo and nearby villages in the Southern Sierra of Oaxaca and Santa Catarina Mechoacan on the Costa Chica (southern coastal region of the state of Oaxaca). Each community specializes in a different process of making the fabrics: from farming their own cotton, spinning it into thread, and naturally dyeing it prior to weaving the fabrics.

At Khadi Oaxaca, artisans produce chemical free textiles from the stage of cotton cultivation through dyeing the fabrics. The indigo is grown and transformed into a dyeing powder in the Isthmus of Oaxaca and used to dye their thread blue. Coyuchi is a brown cotton grown and farmed in the region of Oaxaca since pre-hispanic times, without the use of any dyes the cotton grows in a beautiful brown color.

  • Hand-sewn corozo buttons

  • Back box pleat
