This Pintor shirt is made-to-order with a 6.5 oz fabric hand-woven on a pedal-loom using Oaxaca’s native brown cotton, Coyuchi. This is one of our most special garments as you can trace the seed of the fabrics cotton to Oaxaca, and the garment is cut & sewn in our Portland, OR studio. Two different threads are used for the fabrics weave: natural heritage cotton & coyuchi cotton. This creates a beautiful chambray-like fabric that is very soft and drapey but is full of texture.
We’re very excited to be working with Khadi Oaxaca, a collective of artisans who live in the municipality of San Sebastian Rio Hondo and nearby villages in the Southern Sierra of Oaxaca. Each community specializes in a different process of making the fabrics: from farming their own cotton, spinning it into thread, and naturally dyeing it prior to weaving the fabrics.
