Pintor Shirt (Oaxacan Indigo)
This Pintor Shirt is made with a 5 oz hand-woven organic cotton fabric naturally dyed using indigo from the communities of San Sebastián Rio de Hondo, Oaxaca. The fabric color will vary due to the natural dyes.
Khadi Oaxaca is a collective of artisans and other collaborators who live in the municipality of San Sebastian Rio Hondo and nearby villages in the Southern Sierra of Oaxaca. Each community specializes in a different process of making the fabrics: from farming their own cotton, spinning it into thread, and naturally dyeing it prior to weaving the fabrics.
The artisans produce chemical free textiles from the stage of cotton cultivation through dyeing the fabrics. The indigo is grown and transformed into a dyeing powder in the Isthmus of Oaxaca.
